Problem:
Printer is not shown in the windows printermanagement, but is shown in the windows share.
Investigation:
The printer was not shown with his name given in UCS, but with the vendors name
Solution:
There seems to be a wrong link in the registry.
To solve this, you have to remove the printer from UCS, than remove the printer from the registry in ucs. (In windows)
- In regedit in windows click “File” in the top left corner and select “Connect Network Registry”. → This is important to get the registration on the UCS server, not in the local Windows registry!
- There navigate to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\ - Make a backup of the registration
- Select the printer with the wrong name, you should find it in here, and delete the entry.
- Leave the registry
Now you can add the printer again, and it should be shown in the printermanagement.
The root cause maybe the comment box, where a wrong name was filled in.
