Hello, I have a related question as well. The server where I have OX installed will not upgrade to 5.2 but the other servers will. Can I update the other servers and have a mix in my infrastructure or is this not supported?
Thank you for your response! Maybe I’m just too blind to see, but i can not find it in the catalog of the vm, which i got from here: UCS-VMware-Image.zip as you can see in the image:
In the demo version at Univention Portal i can the ox addin:
So the question is, how do i get the ox suite into my UCS-VMware-Image.zip in my lab?
Thx in advance,
Max
yeah, it does not work on 5.2 yet… I am on 5.0 and it still shows up, just can’t update to 5.2 as long as I have OX installed. If you need OX you can install 5.0 and wait until OX is ready before upgrading to 5.2 I guess…
Here is what I get from 5.0, I cannot upgrade to 5.2 due to OX…
The currently installed release version is 5.0-9 errata1228.
Further release updates are available but cannot be installed. The currently installed version of the application OX App Suite is not available for all newer UCS releases. You may wait for the app to be released for the new UCS version. Using the [“App Center” module](javascript:void(0)), you may also search for alternative apps or uninstall the application.
This also holds for:
I really like OX App and OX Guard. It’s a great piece of software so no way i am going to uninstall it… so I will stick to 5.0 and hopefully OX can run on 5.2 in the near future.
I really want to know if I can run some servers on 5.2 and leave the server that has OX suite on 5.0… Not sure if that’s supported or recommended…
Ahh ok, thats great to hear for me. So it should be available on 5.0. I will give that a try!
Thank you very much and i hope, that you’ll get your answers as well!
Max
Moin,
the Open-Xchange App Suite is currently being updated to UCS 5.2 and we are in contact regarding the release date - I will update here as soon as I can confirm something. In any case it shouldn’t take too long until it’s available now.
Regards
Jan-Luca
Hello, thank you very much for the information. I got the 5.0 Version running now.
Hey. I’m a little confused, because I noticed OX is only available as a complete Kubernetes Setup from now on. So even if the OX App Suite is updated to UCS 5.2, it will only be the OX Connector, right? For everything else I have to run a Kubernetes now and somehow migrate the data?
Or am I missing something (which would be great) and the App Suite will still run with all components as it does now?
Regards,
shukit
Yeah we are stuck on 5.0 on the OX node now while the DC runs on 5.2… The K8s might be because of the opendesk development? Would be nice to hear an update how to progress and maybe even migration towards opendesk is encouraged?
Do we have a date (sort of…) about when the new OX version will allow us to upgrade the product to the last version?
Thanks in advance, and best regards.

Hi!
Ok, I see no answer in one month for this huge issue regarding the continuity of Open-XChange on UCS servers.
Do we have any guide, tutorial, o some paper about how to move from Open-XChange to other solution, for example eGroupware?
Our users have entries on the calendar, contacts and tasks for Open-XChange, I’m not thinking only about the email, that could (or not, nowadays I cannot say nothing for sure…) be easier thinking on the standard packages installation.
I’m planning to move from the server I have today (absolutely broken not only because of the lack of packages, but also because of the failures in synchronization with the AD I posted in some other entries here, also without any response) to a new UCS server, which will take the “personality” of the old one.
It’s being very hard for me to sustain the Open Source ideology when everything is starting to fail, or getting old or discontinued, and closed source solution are around looking good, and showing a path to the future with no issues in migrations or changes in general.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards,
HeCSa.
Any word on this? Thanks
Hi Jan-Luca,
More than three months ago, you wrote about this.
Do we have any idea about when will OX be available for new UCS versions?
Thanks, and best regards,
HeCSa.
Well…after replying to Jan-Luca, I noticed his profile says “This user is no longer active.”.
Is there any UCS member that can answer this?
Thanks, and best regards,
HeCSa.
Not working for Univention, but we got word from the support and they are working on it and it’s ready soon, aka it’s in the final testing phase ![]()
Thanks so much for the update. Do you have an ETA when it will be available?
No, they just wrote they’re still working, and it’s “likely in it’s final testing phase”.
I think the problem here being that it’s not Univention stuff working on it but some third provider, as for most apps.
And my guess (but no idea if that’s true) is that it’s getting complicated to run OX as an univention-app now that it’s developed into a k8s-only application.
OX for UCS 5.2 has been released a few minutes ago. It should show up on you instances in the next hours.
