Working File Share not accessible from Domain FQDN

Hello everyone,

I’d like to build in some redundancy to our file shares. To do so, I thought I would implement a file share utilizing MSDFS.

I’ve created an identical msdfs root share on each of our four directory nodes. I can access the share when using the FQDN of any of the directory nodes (\\dfs).

However, if I try to access the share using the domain FQDN (\\dfs), I receive an error that “Windows cannot access \\dfs.”

I’m at a bit of a loss as to why this is the case since I can access the sysvol and netlogon shares without issues.

I’m hoping someone might have some words of wisdom to guide me in the right direction.

Thank you for your time.
