Hello everyone,
I’d like to build in some redundancy to our file shares. To do so, I thought I would implement a file share utilizing MSDFS.
I’ve created an identical msdfs root share on each of our four directory nodes. I can access the share when using the FQDN of any of the directory nodes (\dc1.ad.org.com\dfs).
However, if I try to access the share using the domain FQDN (\ad.org.com\dfs), I receive an error that “Windows cannot access \ad.org.com\dfs.”
I’m at a bit of a loss as to why this is the case since I can access the sysvol and netlogon shares without issues.
I’m hoping someone might have some words of wisdom to guide me in the right direction.
Thank you for your time.
