Wifi access with wpa2 enterprise using dd-wrt and freeradius in univention DC

Hi guys

I setup a simple test network compounded by a

  1. wired client (mac)
  2. a wireless client (my smartphone)
  3. a switch
  4. an accesspoint/router running dd-wrt with an internet connection with local ip address: 10.0.0.1 with ssd: fcortesWLAN
  5. a univention dc, dhcp, radius server with local ip address 10.0.0.2 (freshly installed with 4.3-1 errata151)
  6. a domain user with username: fcortes with allowed network access under radius in the umc console

Problem:

When tryng to authenticate to access the wireless network fcortesWLAN with a wireless node I can’t seem to be able to join the network after entering username: fcortes and respective password.

items checked/configuration:

  1. my access point (10.0.0.1) has this configuration
    ap_config

  2. clients.conf on 10.0.0.2 (univention radius server)
    clients_conf

  3. my network user “fcortes” is allowed:
    radius_user_check

  4. freeradius shows active and waiting for request:
    radiusservicestatus

5.radius.log shows no apparent issues:

comments:

  1. I tried to enable authentication logging but I see no loging attempts good or bad in the radius.log
    radius_conf_logging_enabled

  2. I understand that certs might be needed to be setup on server so proper authentication is done although I haven’t found instructions on how to do this part in the manual (if I missed it I would appreciate your guidance on this part).

Resolution:

It appears like the problem was the dd-wrt firmware. Once that it was updated I was able to authenticate to the freeradius/ac-dc controller server without a hitch.

sad that I got not response from the team but well. this can now be closed
