I thought I could update OpenProject from within the web console but I can’t.
And I also need to access the database to change project dates to simulate past events.
Can anyone help me?

I have not looked into this, but the article How-to: Backup OpenProject App contains instructions for a database backup, maybe you can adapt this for your use case.

I had some difficulty connecting to the database due to the ph_hba.conf, but with a lot of research I managed to solve the problem.
