Upgrade to version 5.0 with UVMM

Hi@all,

I still have a UCS system (4.4.8) on which UUVM (UCS member) runs to run other UCS systems as VM (UCS master).

Can this UCS member running UUVM be updated to 5.0? Do the VMs still run afterwards and only the administration console for KVM is missing?

Hi,

the update is blocked as long as UVMM is installed on the UCS instance. You should be able to remove UVMM (which should keep the images of the virtual machines), upgrade to UCS 5.0 and use standard Debian tools like virt-manager to manage the virtual machines.

Currently there is no step-by-step guide available for the process, so please be carefull and hav backups.

Ingo

So there is no dependency between UUVM and the virtualiser (libvirt, qemu …) and is just a gui.

Yes, I can cope with that and before a major upgrade a complete image of the server is created anyway.

Thanks

I uninstalled UCS Virtual Machine Manager via the App Center.

The update still fails with the following:

The system can not be updated to UCS 5.0 due to the following reasons:

The update to 5.0 is currently not possible,
