Univention Corporate Client 2.0 released

We are happy to announce the availability of Univention Corporate Client (UCC) 2.0, an operating and management system for clients like notebooks, PCs or thin clients.

UCC 2.0 comprises among others an update of the underlying Ubuntu base to Kubuntu 14.04. Wizards in the UCS management system for the configuration and rollout of UCC simplify the initial setup and UCC images can now also be administrated with a UMC module. Support for xrdp has been integrated which allows a bandwidth-efficient access to the KDE Linux desktop of UCC (also from e.g. Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X systems). The UEFI boot standard is supported and the boot time has been reduced. A great number of improvements have been made to the UCC image build tool and as such the generated images are now more compact.

Notes about the update and a detailed list of the changes can be found in the release notes. UCC 2.0 can be easily installed in the Univention App Center. It requires Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 3.2. The quick start guide describes requirements and the installation of UCC 2.0. The UCC manual is available in the formats PDF and HTML.

UCC clients are managed centrally with the webbased management system in Univention Corporate Server (UCS). Thin clients can access Microsoft Windows remote desktop services, Citrix terminal services and a Linux terminal server included in UCC based on xrdp.

Further information about the product can be found on the Univention website: http://www.univention.com/products/ucc/. Questions about the Univention Corporate Client can pe posted in the Univention forum in the section UCC.
