I had download the VM Images for Hyper-V, after setup and boot up, the system enter the linux login page immediately? I want to know the network status and ip address but what is the default username/password? It did not let me to set by own, and I find many information but cannot find the username/password
Caveat #1: I started with VMware in 1999 and always regarded Hyper-V as a typical M$ product: too late, too cheap an imitation and typically hostile to the better competition (you used to be able to run both on a single machine).
Caveat #2: I prefer working with ISO images, mostly because they work for everything, every hypervisor as well as physical hardware.
An ISO installation will prompt you for the network settings and the root password, which you should either note down or not forget.
If you did forget, or if in fact the Hyper-V image does things differently, restarting the process (perhaps with an ISO?) is very low cost.
Which is probably why dzidek23 helpfully pointed you to the manual you should have read and followed.
@dzidek23 & @abufrejoval:
As so often, it is truly unfortunate that most people who want to help or just want to appear smart, fail to read and/or understand the original post.
1aa clearly stated that he/she downloaded the Hyper-V image and got it running, but was faced with providing the login credentials, which UCS conveniently forgot to provide (tested and verified it myself). Hence, the image is useless to anyone who wants to test UCS via the provided ready-to-load VM.
1aa’s problem has absolutely nothing to do with not reading the manual or using Hyper-V, as superior or inferior it may be.
UCS - please mention somewhere the proper login credentials for the provided VMs!
Thank you!
Thanks for going the extra mile and verifying that.
QA at Univention seems underfunded these days.
Mea culpa @vie2004,
Here I need to ask, why one would bother with Hyper-v image when installation from a .iso would be as easy within Hyper-V.
If someone is prepared to wait a month for an answer on a community forum, they probably not desperate for the functionality.
@abufrejoval QA on this forum is mainly provided by fellow users and very rarely by UCS themselves. Pay for support, expect prompt service, otherwise use what’s available.
Cheers
