UCS 4.3 Nagios: NTP Probleme

Nagios App (4.3.4) auf UCS Member Server (4.3-2 errata 376) installiert.

Error: Cannot open log file ‘/var/log/nagios/nagios.log’ for reading!

    53

a) Der angezeigte Service “UNIVENTION_NTP” existiert auf keinem UCS Server.

d) Problem UCS Backup Server:
43

Hey,
for the benefit of our international users I’ll reply in English. I hope you don’t mind.

Most likely due to the corresponding UCR variables not being set. What’s the output of ucr search --brief timeserver?

As far as I know NTP servers aren’t configured automatically during installation, neither for a DC Master nor for any of the other server roles. This isn’t a bug or problem in all cases anyway, especially when running UCS in virtual machines (e.g. via VMware). It is highly advisable to only run either NTP or the time sync mechanism offered by your virtualization technology (for VMware: the VMware tools, package open-vm-tools) but not both at the same time as they’ll fight against each other. See this FAQ entry for NTP for details.

Kind regards
mosu

It seem to be a problem from the AD Takeover procedure --> no NTP-server entries were adopted.

The AD takeover definitely only copies content of the Active Directory LDAP server. Everything else has to be set up manually (network settings, file shares, files, even the sysvol content is a manual step). That’s intentional.

ok … closed :grinning:

Maybe we should open a ticket
