Recently had to kill my RocketChat installation due to security flaws and my hardware not being able to use the new Mongo Database version required. So I’ve installed Synapse and Element. Which works, however I can’t seem to figure out how to get it federated. I can forward the 8448 port in my firewall, I can create a SRV record with my domain. However I still get Get “https://IPADDRESS:8448/_matrix/key/v2/server”: context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers) as the error. I did find that in ucs-sites.conf.d there is a snyapse.conf file and it does point to the _matrix sub-folder. But as far as I can tell that’s it, it doesn’t resolve and there certainly isn’t anything else at that location. I can’t seem to figure this out… Anyone else successfully get this working? I don’t even really want federation but it’s the only way to get the integration manager working to install widgets and stickers. Any advice would be appreciated.
