Can I Use a NFS Mounted Directory for a Samba Share?
Answer
No, you can not.
Samba needs xattr support from the underlying filesystem (see Samba Wiki).
NFS v3 does not support extended attributes (xattr) to store Samba ACLs at all.
NFS v4 has a draft for supporting xattr but this has not been implemented widely.
