Q&A: Can I use a certificate on a simple authentication account?

Question:

Can I use a certificate from the Cool Solution - Creation and management of user and Windows certificates on a simple authentication account?

Answer:

Unfortunately, with UCS 4.3 we changed the user oprtions.
http://docs.software-univention.de/release-notes-4.3-0-en.html

The different account types for users have been simplified. There are now three different account types with UCS 4.3:
   1. Normal accounts containing all features.
   2. Simple authentication accounts, these can only connect to LDAP servers, but have no possibility to log in elsewhere.
   3. Address book entries for maintaining contact information.

The public key infrastructure account is only available for the normal accounts now.
The extension that the cool solution brings with, can no longer be applied to the simple authentication account. The administration of this account has moved to the ldap directory.
