Q&A: Can I create all computer objects in a new OU instead of CN?

Question:

Can I create all computer objects in a new OU instead of CN?

Answer:

You can create an OU in addition to cn=computers and insert the Windows computers and servers there or move them from their current cn=computers position to the new ou.

Additionally you can set that OU to be the location where newly joined Windows computers will be created in by running the redircmp utility from a Domain-joined Windows server: log in as a domain administrator, start cmd.exe or the PowerShell and execute redircmp ou=MyNewComputerOU,dc=my,dc=domain

Warning:

You must not move the UCS Servers from their location. They have to stay in cn=computers!
UCS systems should never be moved from the location they were created at.
