Problem: Network Suddenly Stops Working

Problem:

The network of the UCS server suddenly stops working.
A reboot of the server fixes the issue.

Environment

Your server has Emulex network card installed.
In dmesg (before rbooting) you see messages as follows:

  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.3: Unrecoverable Error detected in the adapter
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.3: Please reboot server to recover
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.3: UE HIGH: PMEM bit set
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.3: UE HIGH: TXPB bit set
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.4: Unrecoverable Error detected in the adapter
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.4: Please reboot server to recover
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.4: UE LOW: MPU bit set
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.4: UE HIGH: PMEM bit set
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.4: UE HIGH: TXPB bit set
  kernel: be2net 0000:04:00.4: UE HIGH: NETC bit set

Solution

This is a known issue with these cards.

Update the firmware of your network interface cards to the latest from Emulex.
