Problem: Login server not found

Problem

Login server not found

Environment (optional)

In an environment with master/backup the backup server should be set up again. However, as soon as this was switched off, the Windows clients could no longer log on and received “No logon server found”.
Analysis

After switching off the backup, the clients were no longer assigned an IP. The DHCP service on the master did not run as expected.

Solution

The complete DHCP service was at a wrong place in the LDAP and was moved below the school OU, so that the master - according to its configuration - can find the DHCP configuration in the LDAP again. Thus all clients now get their IP and other network configuration from master. Thus, the successful login of the clients from the dynamic network seems to work again.
