Problem
A customer reports that after deleting a Group Policy Object (GPO), the corresponding folder in the SysVol directory either remains or reappears unexpectedly.
Solution
When a policy is removed using samba-tool, the associated SysVol folder is not deleted. This is the normal behavior of samba-tool. In contrast, deleting a policy through a Windows tool, such as the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC), removes the corresponding folder from SysVol as well.
However, the folder may reappear in environments with multiple domain controllers. This can happen due to SysVol replication: GPMC deletes the policy only on one domain controller. Other domain controllers may still hold copies of the policy and replicate it back, causing the folder to reappear.
