Is anyone successfully running MS Exchange in a full UCS AD environment?
Exchange does some not-so inextensive schema extensions to an AD and is really highly coupled with AD. If your Exchange sees any issues related to AD you will be on your own as Microsoft won’t be supporting your issues at all.
There is other Windows-based software that works without much issues or any issues at all when a your AD is run by Samba but Exchange ain’t one of them.
Besides: Microsoft is really focusing on Exchange online and 2019 is making it pretty clear that small to mid-size customers should migrate to their cloud service with the hardware requirements that they have published for 2019 (vs. 2016).
Thanks for the insight. I’m not surprised by what you say. Might be some intrepid soul who has experimented to offer more doom and gloom to seal the deal for me?!!
