Issue with Nextcloud

Greetings forum members. I have a Nextcloud install which has been causing me problems and I am trying to tidy things up (including deleting orphaned apps) before migrating to UCS 5.2 and also updating Postgres to 15.

The Nextcloud app has been problematic for some time, I tried uninstalling it frist from the UCS portal then manually. The Univention diagnostic check produces this error:

################ Start 21_check_join_status ################

Check failed: 21_check_join_status - Check join status

“univention-check-join-status” returned a problem with the domain join.

STDOUT:
Warning: ‘nextcloud-uninstall’ is not configured.
Error: Not all install files configured: 1 missing

See Manual: Analysis of listener/notifier problems (Univention Corporate Server) or run the join-scripts via {join}.
################# End 21_check_join_status #################

When I run the join, I get this:

Configure 05univention-bind.inst Fri Mar 27 14:31:10 EDT 2020
2020-03-27 14:31:10.429938191-04:00 (in joinscript_init)

Adding PTR record “21 xxx.xxx.xxx.com.” to zone 192.168.12…

The problem is that the subnet 192.168.12.0/24 no longer exists. It was the subnet when I originally set up the UCS server but has since been changed. I have looked through the DNS settings in the UCS portal and in the server’s BIND but cannot where the 192.168.12.21 address is still being used.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello, this issue has been resolved. I have a Geo-IP filter in place which was causing these problems. I noticed blocked traffic from UCS servers to Finland and after whitelisting the IP, I reran the join without any problems.

I still don’t know why the old subnet 192.168.12.21 was showing up in the error logs but after the geo-ip correction, it did not stop the process from completing.

Do you have Nextcloud installed via the Univention App Store?

I’m just curious how you are on 5.2 as of my current understanding Nextcloud does not work with that update, is not available on 5.2, and you cannot upgrade to 5.2 without removing Nextcloud first (which is not an option for me).

I have dug through everything I can find, and it seems to boil down to this thread Keycloak compatibility needed for UCS 5.2 · Issue #204 · nextcloud/univention-app · GitHub where the only option is to wait for the Nextcloud Developers, no official info on how to proceeed.

I am a bit worried that Nextcloud users right now are excluded from UCS Updates for an unforeseeable amount of time, this can’t be intendend nor an optimal solution?

EDIT: On UCS it just says the Update cannot be installed due to Nextcloud (and Etherpad in my case) not being available on 5.2. I can imagine they have their own priority issues and timelines at nextcloud but it feels like we are in the unfortunate situation of having to pressure Nextcloud to fix an issue that was forced upon users.

Hi Philip.

No, I uninstalled Nextcloud. I have upgraded only the DC to 5.2, where I don’t have any apps installed at the moment.

I plan to move Nextcloud to the app server where I am still running 5.0 because many of the apps I use do not run under 5.2.
