Docker/Podman and UCS

Hi I would like to try the Docker Version from
https://hub.docker.com/r/univention/univention-corporate-server

No problem to setup a domain, but how to make this persistent?
What is the use case for the docker image?
Every time I restart the container, everything gets installed from scratch.
Is it just for testing, or is it possible to create a production server in a container?

Thx
Chris

Please do not use this Docker image. It has been abandoned, is unmaintained, and never really worked that well.

If you’re interested in containers: A Kubernetes version of “Nubus” - the core of UCS - is scheduled to be released at the end of the month.

Thx, for the information, I’ll wait.
Is Nubus some kind of nextgen base system of UCS? So the future will be Nubus and install AD and Samba stuff on Nubus for my UCS use case?
Thx,
chris

There is a blog post on Nubus that explains it: Univention Identity & Access Management will be called Nubus

Regarding Samba: It can currently not be run safely from inside a Docker container
If you need Samba, IMHO, running UCS in a VM is the best way.

Greetings
Daniel
