i have UCS as a AD Controller for my Windows Clients.
Can i simply rename Usernames in UCS or will this break their Windows Profiles/Settings?

well, a simple test with an user would tell you if it works as you need.
As far as I remember there is no issue in renaming the user id (uid). It will work as before. It is just the home directory and other stuff stays at the previous value. Which might be confusing for the administrator or user.
But it should work.
