Assignment of an IP address to the name of a DNS zone

Problem:

A DNS domain/zone cannot be reached via the name in the network; the name cannot be resolved.

Solution:

An IP address needs to be assigned for a DNS zone name to be resolved.
The IP address for a DNS zone can be set up in the Univention Management Console.
This is done by selecting the required zone in the DNS container. The ?DNS: Host Record? is selected using the ?Add? button. This can now be furnished with the desired name, e.g., the DNS zone name and the IP address that the name should point to.
Example:

Domain = company.test
IP adress = 200.100.50.25

In Univention Management Console:

"LDAP directory" -> "dns" -> "company.test" -> "Add" -> "DNS: Host Record"
Hostname: company.test.
IP adresses: 200.100.50.25

Confirm with “OK”.
