Hallo,
kurze Frage.
Hi,
we are preferring English here for our international users. Let me know if you have any issues with this.
(wir bevorzugen Englisch, kurze Info falls das Probleme macht).
So you are asking for scaling recommendations for a UCS system with Kopano and SEP/ Sesam.
Well, obviously: it depends.
Anyways, some ideas about it:
License:
You would be fine with your setup regarding licenses. Additionally you do not have any limits on vCPU count. But a limit on virtual machine count- max of four. As long as they reside on the same physical server.
Support is limited to installation support. You might need to purchase additional UCS Domain Services but you should contact our sales team for further details.
vCPU
CPUs are often not the limiting factor meanwhile. So 2 vCPUs should be fine.
Memory
8GB for the master incl. Kopano could be a little bit tight. It could be perfect, however. You will need to monitor the swap usage of the UCS system very closely.
Regarding the second (Backup) host it should be fine as performance and speed does not seem to be an important factor.
Storage
In case you use Email and really have a heavy load or many shares you should consider to improve your storage. You might use RAID1 or even better RAID10 for performance reasons with high-class HDDs combined with SSDs. Especially when being tight on memory a very fast storage can leverage performance sometimes.
But I doubt you will have a reliable backup solution in this case. What happens when your hardware is failing? Then both UCS master and your backup are gone. I would strongly suggest to have the backup system running off-site! If you have issues regarding licences you could think of using a non-UCS based backup solution. Personally I like BackupPC. Install it abroad and let it backup through rsync. Works fine.
Besides of all this, which hardware do you have as the virtualization host? Using ProxMoxx, ESX or HyperV?

Hi,
thank you for the Informations.
Is it better to install sep sesam on a second ucs server or can I install the Sep Sesam server App on the Same server as Kopano, print server, file server?
The ucs server System has 16GB RAM and 4 vCPU Cores.
Thank you.
Best regards
