In the past it was recommendet to set the OS type of UCS VM’s to other linux 3x kernel, is this the same with UCS 4.2 or should it now be set to Debian8 as I read that with 4.2 the Debian packages are not modified anymore ?

Hi,
please don’t treat this as “official recommendation”, but I’ve been running UCS 4.2 with the Debian 8 (Jessie) templates on VirtualBox, VMware Workstation Player and VirtManager (KVM) without problems.
That being said, please note that Debian 8 uses Kernel 3.16 while UCS 4.2 uses Kernel 4.9 (just like Debian 9 will do).
