Migrate an in place Samba 3 to Samba 4 by using UCS

Hello Univention community,

I’m currently trying to migrate an in place Samba 3 to Samba 4 by using UCS, for my company, I need to test things out on VM (i’m currently using VirtualBox).

I tried to follow this tutorial : https://wiki.univention.de/index.php/Migration_from_Samba_3_to_Samba_4#Update_Scenario_2_-_In_place_upgrade_of_the_Samba_3.2FNT4_to_a_Samba_4.2FAD_domain
with on UCS 3.3-0 version but it failed. I searched on this forum to find a solution and the only topic I found with the same issues recommended to use a 3.2 version. I’d like to do that but I can’t find any iso matching those recommendations.

In the end, I found a new tutorial to use with a 4.1 version but i can’t manage to build a VM with Samba 3 on UCS 4.1.

Could someone tell me if it is possible to build a 4.1 UCS acting as Samba 3 DC master please ?

Hi Christian,

If I’m not mistaken, those ISO are for update only (from 3.2-7 to 3.2-8), I can’t use them to build an UCS environment.
Tell me if I understanded it wrong.

sorry thought there are also full iso files for 3.2 - as they are for 3.3 there
