There are various posts here in the forum about apps that are not yet, or not at all, ported to UCS 5.2. I don’t want to focus on specific apps that I’m currently missing or that are preventing an upgrade to 5.2.
It would be great if Univention could provide a bit more information, such as:
Which apps will be ported and which will not?
What is the status of the porting process (rough timeline)?
This would allow users to plan accordingly—whether to wait for certain apps or set them up externally outside of UCS. It would make things easier for everyone.
I believe the answer to this as posted in another thread(s) is that it is up to the app vendor if and when the apps get updated. I don’t believe UCS officially assumes any responsibility for the state of apps that they don’t own/maintain themselves.
So it might be best if anyone waiting on a particular app were to inquire directly of the app vendor. My guess is that some apps don’t have a large UCS base and the vendors might not be motivated to maintain the apps in a timely fashion.
Of course if the app is open source then someone could always contribute to the needed fixes themselves if they have the resources to do so.
