Can UCS be Secondary DC from AZURE VM?

No one sait it isn’t possible in UCS, it simply isn’t supported, meaning you can try it on your own, but don’t expect to get help. Zentyal is just not as up front & honest about the limitations inherent in Samba which both projects use (and the sysvol replication isn’t the only limitation; you’ll also run into problems if you’re running Exchange, for example).

Was of today sysvol and netlogon are already replicated in UCS… aren’t?

Univention has a mechanism that synchronizes sysvol between all Univention Samba AD DCs. Therefore having multiple Univention Samba AD DCs is just fine.

That’s sync mechanism is Univention’s own piece of software, it isn’t part of the upstream Samba distribution. It does not work between Univention Samba AD DCs & Windows AD DCs. Nor does it work with non-Univention Samba AD DCs such as Zentyal.

Tim,

Thank you for your reply. It is nothing to do with Azure.

We have one on promise DC and I am thinking to have one more UCS as secondary/backup. Thank you

@codedmind - I tried Zentyal. It does not support Win 2k12 or newer. Thank you

@voc that is a samba limitation… that the forrest level cannot be more than 2008 r2
